Nash’s Fish & Chip Restaurant & Takeaway has a private dining room which can be used for birthday parties, anniversary, christening or a business function. It took 40 years and a third generation before the Nash’s branched out however. First with another shop in Chapel Allerton, and then a fully-fledged restaurant in 1963, an impressive Tudor-style listed building that was once a private boys school. It was a bold move, but it became a roaring success. People flocked to enjoy tasty fish and chips served by the waitresses in their smart black and white outfits, and in such a grand setting. In fact, Nash’s grew to become an institution – an essential part of Leeds city life, for locals and visitors alike. Even the celebrities appearing at the Grand Theatre just nearby would feel compelled to pop in. And we’ve got their signatures on the wall of the bar area to prove it!
