There are many products on Amazon, including (books, DVDs, CDs, videotapes, software), apparel, baby products, consumer electronics, beauty products, gourmet food, groceries, health, potties, and sexual accessories. Other items include personal care items, industrial and scientific supplies, kitchen items, jewellery and watches, lawn and garden items, musical instruments, sporting goods, tools, automotive items, and toys/games.
In March 1999, Amazon.com Auctions was launched. The company, however, failed to take on eBay’s large market share. In September 1999, Amazon launched its fixed-price marketplace and shops. In November, it announced its partnership with Sotheby’s, called Sothebys.amazon.com. shops and auctions evolved into Amazon Marketplace, a service introduced in November 2000 that lets customers sell used books, and CDs, DVDs, and other products. Sears, Rakuten, and Newegg have similar marketplaces, but Amazon Marketplace is the largest.
In August 2007, Amazon announced Amazon Fresh, a grocery service offering perishable and non-perishable foods. Customers could have orders delivered to their homes at dawn or during a specified daytime window. There were also pick-up locations in the suburbs of Bellevue and Kirkland from the summer of 2007 through early 2008. At first, Amazon Fresh delivered only to Mercer Island, Washington residents.
Amazon launched Vine.com in 2012 to purchase green products, including groceries, household items, and clothing. As part of Quidsi, Amazon bought the website Diapers.com in 2010. Wag.com also offers pet and pet care products as well as toys. Also owned by Amazon are Shopbop.com, Woot.com, and Zappos.com.

In 2013, Amazon launched its online store in India. It started with electronic goods. Amazon’s most significant Indian rival Flipkart announced $1 billion in funding in July 2014; the company pledged to invest $2 billion (Rs 12,000 crore) to expand its Indian business.
In 2014, Amazon sold 63% of all online books purchased by consumers and 40% of all books sold worldwide.
Approximately 44 percent of respondents to a Survata study in 2015 searched directly on Amazon.com for products.
With Merch by Amazon, creators can generate revenue by selling branded T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, grips, and other merchandise they designed, sold, produced, and fulfilled by Amazon. It was also available in Germany and Great Britain in the summer of 2018.
Amazon launched Handmade by Amazon in October 2015 with over 5,000 sellers from 60 countries and 80,000 items available.
